Wage war to promote peace
Sometimes its the only way - right? We can't let those untrustworthy nations step out of hand. Look at Saddam Hussein for example. He was ruling his dictatorship through violence, launching unprovoked attacks on his neighbours. At least we were able to show him how it was done - an unprovoked attack I mean. We beat the crap out of him in style, using state of the art technology like precision bombing - so at least our attack was justified.
I actually love the whole idea of precision bombing. The logic for it is so sound. The killing of innocent civilans is legitimised by the fact that we weren't aiming for them. Its almost as absurd as the notion of friendly fire - as in - "Sorry to tell your that son is dead, but at least you know that his friends killed him". But perhaps the ultimate hypocrisy is promoted by the USA, the only nation to have used nuclear weapons in stating that it would be irresponsible of them to allow other states to develop nuclear weapons. Which is why they need even more nuclear weapons which they call a "nuclear deterrent".
Is anyone in the west actually surprised by the way we are viewed by other nations around the world? We use our so called democracy to dictate to the rest of the world how they should live. And we expect them to like us? Are we insane? We are ruling the world in terror - no better than any of the dictators that we depose.
War for the sake of peace is nonsense. We have proved it time and time again. Peace is a seed that exists in all of us that needs to be nurtured so it can flower amongst every individual in every country independent of the state that they are told they belong to. The most powerful weapon that we have is information. We now have the technology to launch it globally and distribute it to the world on a one to one basis via the internet. So that people from around the world can see first hand how people in other countries are just like them. No better, no worse. Just trying to get by.
