Let's modernize elections!

Let's face it, our electoral process is outdated, tired and quite frankly boring. In this day and age of multimedia, we should be able to do much better.

Ok, so here is my suggestion. The candidates should all be sent to a house where they will have to live together for a number of weeks while they compete for the public vote. Every week there would be a live show where would be MP's could compete for your votes in front of a panel of judges (including Simon Cowell of course).

There would also be the usual results show where the would be candidate with the worst sob story gets bumped off, after much teary deliberation by Cheryl Cole of course.

Or maybe we could get Cilla to host the show. At least that way we could hide the candidates behind a curtain.

"Number one what's your name and where do you come from?"

"I am Gordon and I am from number 10 Downing Street"

But then again it may be too much of a shock when the curtain is drawn back.

Perhaps we could expose all of the candidates to a touch of Anne Robinson to see who is the weakest link.

Or better still we could send them into the Dragon's Den. I am sure Theo Paphitis would have fun and games discussing fiscal policies with would be Chancellors of the Exchequer.

Best of all though would be to submit our candidates to a shot of Sir Alan.

"What do you mean you claimed your expenses for your summer home in Barbados? Your fired!"
